Osaka has great food, but it's the chef that makes the meal (no pun intended). So how good of a time you have really depends on the chef you get. I really like the Sukiyaki beef. If you're on a budget and with a friend, they offer a share-a-meal, so you can share the meat (which is plenty for 2) and get your own portion of rice, soup, etc. It's still pretty expensive, but delicious.
