This school has some nutty people who work in student activities. They believe a student club shouldn't exist unless it is authorized to receive public funds. Furthermore, the clubs shouldn't be allowed to conduct any activity whatsoever unless a staff person is present. In essence, there really are no student clubs at Foothill, but instead instruments of the marketing department and student activities. This is typical of the entire De Anza district, but not so typical at other higher ed institutions.
Besides student activities, the Social and Behavioral Science Department has a history teacher who openly enforce an exclusionary policy against non-honors students. This is both contrary to departmental policy as well as the policy of open access at two year colleges.
All things considered, the knowledge of most of Foothill's teachers is better than most two year schools, but the policies of the school, and some of the faculty are not conducive to intellectual progress.
