I spent a few hours at the zoo with my almost 2 year old and a few friends and their almost 2 year old. We go there right when the opened, and were greeted with a friendly staff. The maps are easy to follow, and almost all of the animals were awake and visible for the crowd. You can take food in with you, as long as it is sealed (water, snacks etc). The only bad part about the zoo, are the walking paths. They are hard dirt and lots of very small rocks, and the paths are NOT stroller friendly. Wear comfortable walking shoes, or you will have SORE FEET They have a nice gift shop, but a lot of the items (even for a gift shop) were heavily overpriced in my opinion. The parking is horrible if you have a small car. It is all dirt and small/medium sized rocks, very tough on small cars. Make sure to go with friends that have a truck or SUV.
