One of my favorite business stories is about Allen Edmunds. The head of the company, when prevented from displaying their shoes at a business show in Japan, set up a table on the steps of the hall. He sold out his shoes and shamed the people who kept him out. I figured if this can happen in protectionist Japan, these must be great shoes. I bought a pair and discovered I was correct - these shoes ROCK! The quality, fit and style are classic, not cutting edge. And at this store, the salesmanship/customer service is first rate too.
We go to Maine every few years on vacation and I always come home with a pair (on occasion 2) of these great shoes.
