Verti Marte is a tiny deli and (I use the word lightly) grocery at the corner of Royal and Governor Nicholls streets. It's open all day every day, and is a longtime favorite of quarter residents, the Frenchmen street clientèle, and other locals who happen to get hungry in the wee hours of the night. Verti Marte can deliver groceries and beer in the area, although its selection is very slim. Those who come, however, usually come for the sandwiches, which are virtually unbeatable in the entire city. Try grilled chicken on a bun with cheese, lettuce, and creole mustard for a good night's sleep after a late, late night.
