Slater Park is a big park, with a forest, a pond, picnic sites, a river, and a bike path. All I have really experienced of the park is the Looff carousel there. None of the animals move up and down, but the carousel is very fast -- the fastest carousel I've ever experienced. Tickets are 25c An unusual and interesting, if somewhat nauseating, experience.
