If you are interested in painting, but find it intimidating, I highly recommend starting with Joan Iaconetti's watercolor classes. She starts at the most basic level in her intro. class. Her kindness makes her very approachable and easy to ask any question.
All the students are enthusiastic and helpful in my experience. Joan has beginners' kits for those who sign up knowing absolutely nothing (like I did).

If you need a new hobby or just a new way to see your world, this class is a good place to start. I'm not artistic at all, but I do enjoy looking at art. I wanted to try my hand at the experience of painting and while I will never paint anything that will hang in a museum, I was very proud of my work. I was never discouraged. I never found myself frusterated, and the experience of painting was soothing. Joan starts students out painting things that will encourage taking on the next project.
