Awhile back, I brought in the only baby dress of mine that my mother had saved in her cedar chest for decades. I gently took the dress out of its careful packaging to have a portrait taken of my own baby daughter wearing it at the same age as I was in the portrait my parents took of me wearing it. However, I took it to Clover Cleaners first to freshen it up. The managing woman told me that they had removed all of the glass buttons to prevent damaging them. ""That's fine,"" I said. ""Where are they?"" She continued to tell me they lost them, but would try to replace my precious glass buttons. They never did. They never followed up. They never apologized. Don't trust them with anything that means something to you.
