We was contracted to build a couple of websites for Troy Huntsman of Huntsman Wholesale (aka Resell Report). We required a 50% deposit to commence project and the remaining balance upon completion and prior to live launch. It took over a month for him to come up with almost half of it. We agreed to start on the website even though he was short money. He then proceeded to try to get us to build the site on his hosting account right away. We would not do that for the exact reason of what happened. We basically finished the site and he couldn't pay us the rest of the money that he owed to us.\r \r We had many more issues with this company, including them not being able to provide the type of information that they said that they could, which was what their entire business was based upon, and then we found out that the information that they were going to use was proprietary information and that they didn't have the rights to use it. \r \r Even more than that, through discovery, we found out that ultimately what they were doing and why they were doing it was not anything that we really wanted to be involved with. Unfortunately 248 hours of our time later, it was hard lesson learned and a bad experience with a shady business.\r \r There are several auto dealership scams going on in the Treasure Valley, such as M & M Motorsports in Boise that was reported on ""6 On Your Side"" as having some pretty shady business practices, and even more, flat out ripping people off - read the story at http://www.kivitv.com/news/local/210778851.html.\r \r One such company to watch out for is Huntsman Wholesale. Their business model is to contact people selling cars and trucks on Craigslist and tell them that they are trying to sell their vehicles for too much money and that they can sell it for them in no time at all...for a small consignment fee of course.\r \r The reason that they went to this business model was because all of the inventory that they had at one time got repossessed by the bank, which is why they don't actually have a car lot. They don't own anything, it's all consignment. \r \r The reality of what happened with the company mentioned in the 6 On Your Side story has become common amongst small car dealers, fly by night companies, and individuals selling cars on consignment. These companies tell you that you're selling your car for too much money. They'll even back it up with a ""Resell Report"", which is all based off of what vehicles are selling for on a wholesale level at auto auctions. \r \r The other purpose for the Resell Report is for profit. They'll list your car on their website...or more likely, on craigslist, cars.com, ebay, etc., and if you don't have a Resell Report, they won't guarantee your car to be in good condition. If you would like to have a ""Resell Report"" on your car, you can pay money to have them inspect your car and have that report available for buyers to see.\r \r In Summary\r What happened in the 6 On Your Side story was that Andrea Eisenbarth was selling her vehicle for $4500. The company offered to sell her vehicle for $3500, but she needed to sign a contract allowing them to sell her car. They contacted her with a buyer who only wanted to pay $3000 for car and wanted to know if that was going to work. If so, they would sell the car, do all the paperwork, collect the money and send her a check for $2500 ($3000 minus their $500 consignment fee). Andrea agreed and next thing you know she's got no car and trying to collect money from a company that closed up shop and skipped town.\r \r If you do business with these types of companies...watch out! more
