We have an older model Thermador oven, and had to call for repair, as the thermostat was off by about 125 degrees. Rene from R.O. Appliance Repair came out and determined we needed a new thermostat. They couldn't find the thermostat part for our model, so ordered a Bosch (parent company of Thermador) from Europe and said it would take 5-10 days to come in. They charged us $95 for the service call, and $200 deposit for the part. Two weeks later the part still wasn't in, so the owner came out on Friday, 8/23 with Rene to see if a Viking thermostat would work. We left them alone to install, and when they were done, the owner told my wife that the Viking thermostat did not work, and now the Convection Bake feature was not working either. We had just used the convection bake feature 2 days before, so it was working fine before they came out, which my wife stated to the owner. (I had left for an appt about 10 minutes after they got here) The owner then stated to my wife that he checked the convection bake before he started, and it did not work. This is incorrect, as I was here when he started work, and he did not check any of the oven functions before he took the oven apart to start working on it. He & my wife went back & forth about the issue, and she asked what needed to be done to repair it. The owner gave my wife a phone number to call Thermador directly to see if she could get the thermostat, and they left. When I got home and she related the story to me. I was very upset and called the owner myself to tell them that they needed to fix the convection oven, since it was working before they got there. The owner took no responsibility, and said it was broken before he started. If this was the case, you'd think he would have said something before he started to take the oven apart to replace the thermostat. He denied any wrong doing and refused to take responsibility for the convection oven no longer working. That same day, we called Thermador and they no longer stocked the part, so we went hunting for the thermostat on-line, and found the Thermador thermostat for our model on eBay for $99, and ordered it. R.O. was charging us $480 for the Bosch thermostat #210766. I can't even find a Bosch thermostat with that number, but the ones I did find are around $100. HUGE markup with this company! My wife called R.O., spoke with the owner, and asked for our $200 deposit back. He was more than happy to issue us a refund, and we got the check a few days later. We contacted another company to install the correct thermostat for our oven model, and it's now working correctly, but the convection back feature still does not work. The other company we hired says it needs a Push Button Switch #415047, which has also been discontinued by Thermador. Neither the new company we hired, as well as searching for the part ourselves on-line, have been unable to find the part. We're very unhappy with R.O. Appliance Repair, as they damaged this part somehow, and now it cannot be fixed. We're closing escrow in about a week, and are faced with another huge issue, as this is a professional range, which now run between $10,000-$11,000. more
