We contacted Girards on a Monday and they scheduled a repair for the very next day. The dispatcher contacted me to keep me up to date on the repairman's schedule, and he arrived when promised.
Most importantly, James did a great job. My past luck with servicepeople in general, especially those in their 20's as James was, has been disappointing.
But James proved to be the exception to that rule. He was professional from start to finish. He arrived, he assessed the situation (broken torsion spring), he objectively let me know my options, he told me what to expect in total costs, and then he went right to work. He had the needed parts on the truck, and had all the right tools to get the job done surprisingly quickly. He answered my occasional questions about the mechanics of the door system, and even wrapped things up by doing a quick check of all the hardware of the door itself to be sure that there were no hidden problems with the hinges or rails. He did not try to sell me products or services I didn't need, and truthfully told me of extra services I should consider (like replacing a couple of the bearings in the spring system).
Thank you James, for renewing my faith that young servicepeople take their work seriously, and care about customers.
