My family used this vet hospital since the 1960s when Dr. Butler was in business. When I moved back to Bradenton 3 years ago, I was surprised to see Dr. Butler still in business and began taking my dog and cat there again. Great prices and very decent care. However, when my cat became very ill, Dr. Butler had retired, and Dr. Laurel Logus had bought the practice. I was unsure, but in need of help for my cat. The cat was diagnosed with kidney failure, the worst possible news. It was nearing the holidays and the cat had been my daughter's childhood pet. She had been going through a hard time already, so Dr. Logus offered me a treatment that could perk him up and give him some time. We thought we would only get 2-3 weeks, but instead, we got nearly 2 months. The cat did very well. He was happy and loving for a few weeks to give us time to adjust to losing him and to say goodbye. Dr. Logus informed me of costs, never gave me false hope, and when it was time to say goodbye, she handled it in the most caring way. She even cried with us. I was truly grateful to her for the time she was able to give us. This is not my only experience with this doctor. She has taken care of my dog's dental care and treated my newer rescue cat. It is true that prices have increased some since she bought the practice, but they are still below the average cost of other vets in town. I loved Drs. Butler and Dunham, but they had not modernized the practice in many many years. Dr. Logus is trying to balance cost of improvement with keeping patient costs lower. This is not an easy task. I will continue to use this practice and recommend it to others. While I respect the opinions of the others who reviewed the practice based on their experience, it is important to realize that we are all more likely to complain about a bad experience than praise about a good one, since a good experience is what we expect in the first place. I feel certain that far more people have had positive experiences than negative ones in the time since the practice was sold. So why am I posting now? I was looking up the number to call about my dog who is currently ill. I thought it was important to add a positive experience and my vote of confidence.
