I took my 2002 Hyundai Elantra into NYC Tire and Auto on September 10th, to have my brakes looked at. I ended up getting new shoes/pads, two new tires and a new steel rim. I was told the work was going to be finished Tuesday afternoon. However, I wasn't able to pick up my car until Wednesday evening which forced me to miss class and work. As my car was being returned to me out of the garage, one of the workers drove it underneath an SUV that was on a car lift. One of the tires from the SUV damaged the top of my car. There is now a huge dent in my roof. Since this is THEIR mistake, I expect that NYC Tire and Auto pay for the repair.
I've contacted someone from this shop at least 10 times in the past 2 weeks. I have been told on numerous occasions that I will receive a call back but I have not. I really don't want to make a big deal out of this situation but I need this to be resolved ASAP. I live in Maryland and don't have the luxury to drive up to NY frequently so I proposed that there is only one option:
The shop pay for the repair to be done at a shop here in Maryland close to where I live. I received a quote from Maaco and it totaled $976.50
Like I said, I didn't want to make this a big deal but since one of their workers messed up my roof it is the shop's responsibility to remedy the situation. I have already contacted the Better Business Bureau of Manhattan but I would appreciate if it could get this resolved without having to go through them.
