I am very thankful for One World Roller Derby. I came to OWRD through a beginning roller derby class through North Seattle Community College. The Hot Flash, founder of OWRD, created such an amazing environment for learning and being positively supported. I hadn't been on skates since I was a kid and was quickly building confidence and learning new skills. I was encouraged to go to practices where I felt welcomed. Many of the experienced skaters assist the new skaters with learning the basics and new skills. I never felt intimidated becuase there was always someone there to provide guidance and encouragement.
