I live in the neighborhood (Havana St 5/7/2012

I live in the neighborhood (Havana St and 6th Ave, Aurora) and shop a lot in the local King Soopers at Peoria & 6th Ave, and in the new Latino supermarket, Lowe's, which has replaced Avanza Market on Colfax Ave near Havana St -- both being great places to shop for the daily grub, especially in these economically depressed times! -- but neither of these two supermarkets sell CURRY in a quantity that a curry-lover can afford. That's where World Food Bazaar comes in (that's its actual name -- ""World Bazaar"" is just too bizarre, since it says nothing about what the place sells!). I picked up a 14 oz. bag of Madras Curry Powder at $6.99 there -- a real bargain! (By comparison, a 2.5 oz. glass of curry in a regular supermarket would probably set you back $2.99!!!) The savings are even greater with larger bags. I also picked up a 3.5 oz. (100 grams) bag of Turmeric Powder for $1.79. In Denmark, Turmeric Powder is used to give color to the popular, everyday dish ""Boller i karry"" (""Mini-meatballs in curry""), since, for the older generation there, the taste of real curry is apparently just too rich! According to the BBC, scientists are experimenting with the colon-cancer-healing (and perhaps -preventing) properties of Turmeric, which is supposed to render Chemotherapy more effective. Ever since I learned about the colon-cancer-healing/ -preventing properties of Turmeric, I have been using it to color rice that I use in ""Oriental"" dishes (yellow rice is not so aesthetic in Hispanic dishes, but would also be great with Sushi), and I also use it to spike my curry -- I will exploit any excuse to use it, given its beneficial properties! Anyway, the couple who run World Food Bazaar are nice, easy-going people. I came on foot, with a dog, and was a bit hesitant to bring a dog into a Muslim place of business, but it turned out that I was more ""discomfitted"" about that than the shop's owners! (Some Asian shop owners can be something of a closed book, but not these folks, which is another good reason to spread the word!) I intend to write up a more thorough piece on the range of the products at World Food Bazaar, next time (soon!) I make an appearance -- without the dog! In the meantime, note the following: World Food Bazaar is located on Havana St, just south of 4th Way -- which you will NEVER notice unless you know it's there!!! More useful, it is located just across Havana St from Woody's Wings in the same area and side of the street (same turnoff, going northward) as Enterprise Rent-A-Car. You'll see a place called Massa Auto Pawn, with some red trim near the roof. Just go along the south side of that building until you reach the end of the ""block"", and there you will find World Food Bazaar, which is open from 10 AM to 8:30 PM, EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK! more
