Our Golden retriever had a lump on his neck and mouth. Rather than taking X-Rays and diagnosing the problem at the beginning, they said the best thing to do is surgery. Well.. they cut him open to remove the lump and discovered that it could not be removed. Then they did X-rays and discovered he had several other lumps and stage four cancer. Painful surgery for our dog, $2,000 from us, that had they diagnosed him correctly were not needed.
