Bad management 4/7/2012

Living in a small town means you're often at the mercy of poorly managed businesses. In Mesquite there are 2 theaters, & they never show the same thing. If there's a particular movie you want to see you may be stuck seeing it at Redd Hills Cinema. Over all, Redd Hills is a nice theater the problem sadly is Ernie, a bully of a manager. I've seen him in action with patrons & employees alike & had my own experiences with him as have others I've spoken with have. He is rude, arrogant & will tell his patrons off with a smile on his face. It is both frustrating & demeaning. Apparently, he is also a member of the Rotary and on the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce. This floors me. I've never met a more infuriating bully in my life, especially in a customer service oriented position! I hope others will speak up about their experiences with Ernie! Here is one of mine... We were at Redd Hill on a somewhat busy day when a must see movie was out. Keep in mind we're not talking Las Vegas busy, it's is a small crowd in comparison. There were only lines due to the way they sell tickets. You stand & wait in the same line as those buying snacks. There's no ticket only line EVER. Ernie absolutely refuses to open one. People are fuming! I thought there might be an uprising right there & then. It took 40 minutes to get our tickets with 5 open registers & many employees. Each line had 6 guests in it if that. By the time we sat down the movie was 5 min. in & we'd had been 30 minutes early but were late even thru10 minutes of trailers. One ticket only line would've solved the problem. Instead EVERYONE was late & very vocal about it! Ernie just said to each person, be on time next time! WE ALL WERE ON TIME ERNIE!! I wrote an email to make a suggestion about a ticket only line, & got the NASTIEST letter back from, you guessed it, Ernie. He said we patrons are to blame & inferred we obviously aren't smart enough to see the genius in his thinking. We should get there earlier, his system works fine! He said they don't have enough staff to accommodate people & hiring more would force ticket prices up... ( this was not true there was more staff then I've seen at any well run theater) Ernie said perhaps we patrons would rather go back to the times of the Virgin River Theater (a small theater that was not fancy) but being they are worth the wait we should just get there much earlier & deal with the way he has decided to do their ticketing. Funny how other theaters never have these issues. The common denominator is not the customer here it is the manager! And yes Ernie I would prefer to go to the antiquated Virgin River any day if it meant not dealing with you. more
