We got 2 beautiful golden retrievers from Emanuel Homestead Goldens in April 2007. They have been the loves our of life. One of our dogs, Vinny, has always had horrible issues with allergies. He's had hot spots covering his entire body from May- October every year. This January Vinny stopped eating and we met with many specialists and found out he had a liver shunt. These are usually caught in puppies. Since he had no signs or symptoms we had no idea. Within a month he went from not eating, to non stop seizures and we had to let him go. We are devastated. When the necropsy was performed they found he had a congenital liver shunt along with 3 acquired liver shunts. They also found he had hydrocephalus. These are due to poor breeding! He was our perfect boy and such a sweet golden, but due to Chris's poor breeding we tragically lost him too young. And had to spend thousands of dollars to be sure his brother did not have the same issues!
