2nd time transmission on this car was worked reworked by A Plus & Jonathan. Car was towed to his garage on Nov.16,2011. I was told the cost would be about $2100 to be done in about a week. A week went by & the car wasn't even inside the garage. Dec 2 Jonathan said it was done and the price was 2,152.16. After about 3 miles, the car was jerking and I took it right back and the mechanic (Kenny) told me to bring the car back in Sun. aft. to be fixed by Mon. night with no additional charge.
From that time on, there has been one excuse after another: couldn?t find a part, parts truck didn?t come in, waiting for truck, wrong part, looking for a new part, and the cycle all over again. Finally approx 2 weeks later, I was told that the car wasn't at the garage; his mechanic took it to Hendersonville. Jonathan also said he didn?t know where it was & didn?t have an address.
Dec 21, I walked down to the shop to find out about my car (about 2+ miles--I'm 78 years old!) I told him I wanted my car back and Jonathan again said he didn?t know where the car was and told me to leave. He told me that he would get a tow truck and bring the car back that day but that didn?t happen either.
Dec 22 Jonathan said that the car was ready, but it would cost us $575 to get it today or starting Monday the 26th, he would charge us $25 storage fee. I asked him who authorized that additional expense and Jonathan said it was part of the transmission. They had the car, that was the only way to get it .I called my sister who called Jonathan and gave him her credit card over the phone satisfying that unauthorized charge to enable us to get the car. This was about 4 pm. My sister told him to give me a receipt. He never did.
Dec 23, Jonathan called about 10:00AM saying the guy called him about 30 min prior and said he wouldn?t be in until about 11:00. Jonathan said he would pick me up and go over to get the car. At 11:30 he said as soon as another worker came he was going to send his mechanic and another person over to get it. None of this happened.
About 4PM that same afternoon, Jonathan said his wife & his friend who was a Ford expert were going to get it. 5:25: his wife was almost there and he would call when she got there. Later: wife found note on the gate saying they would be closed until Monday. Jonathan still doesn't know where car is.
Mon, Dec. 26, Jonathan said he couldn?t get the mechanic or anyone to answer the phone in Hendersonville
Tues, Dec 27, My wife and I stopped and asked where the car was. Jonathan said he couldn?t get anyone on the phone at Hendersonville and again said he didn?t know where the place was and couldn?t leave because he was the only one there. He said we should leave.
We went straight to the police where we filed a report An Officer accompanied us to the garage & heard the same story. He told Jonathan that unless this car was shown by the next day, there would be a stolen vehicle report on it and Jonathan would be responsible.
Dec 27: Jonathan called and said that the car was now at his garage but he was adding an additional $252.26 as sales tax and not let us pick up the car until either the total amount of $904.42 is paid or we turn over the title of the car to him as collateral. We have had the car 2 days since November 16. Six weeks, one day and $2062.16 later, we still don?t have the car.
Update: Dec 30: After being advised to get the car away from there as soon as possible, we were able to scrape together $652.16 (between 3 sources) . Jonathan had called the Officer on Wednesday saying he had the car and it was working right. Today we went to the police department and the officer accompanied us to A+ automotive. Jonathan gave me a new bill which said we owed $904.42. Wife said ?I have a slip right here from you that says our balance due is $652.16.? Balance due means that is the amount that it will take to ?pay in full??. That amount was paid and we finally got the car.
