When we moved into our house 18 years ago, we replaced the original wood windows which were in very poor condition. We hired a local contractor who purchased and installed vinyl replacement windows from a home improvement store. -The new windows were an improvement over the wooden windows we replaced however we noticed that cold air still penetrated around the frames indicating a poor installation. After about 7 or 8 years, some of the windows started to fog. In the ensuing years, the fogging spread to most of the windows indicating seal failure. In the last 2 years, the frames started to separate.
