Priority seems to be payment not patient care 8/1/2011

We have been a customer since 2009. We have private insurance and United Medical is listed as a preferred provider. We needed a portable oxygen concentrator for airline travel and got it approved through insurance. United Medical phoned and stated they would not be delivering the equipment because the cost exceeded the insurance payments. Hmmmm...didn't know you could deny care when you had a managed care contract with the insurance company. Obviously their patient care priorities change as equipment fees and patient needs change. Get something in writing before you use this company. I learned the hard way!! more
