The fees charged despite the Groupon coupon that I purchased were not fully disclosed upon scheduling my move. I was unaware that I was going to have to pay $15 for a "fuel fee", plus the travel costs from wherever the movers were prior to meeting me at my location, plus their travel costs to wherever they were to go after my location. Plus the driving time from when they departed for my location and the driving time from my location to their next destination was counted as "time" for my move. Seems like the time and the travel costs are a double charge for the same service, as does the fuel fee and travel costs. I am aware that the Groupon deal was a good value (2hrs for price of 1 hr) however after the hidden fees it wasn't a deal at all. I feel this sneaky practice is a way for the company to make up for the money lost in providing a Groupon special. I will not recommend this company to anyone nor will I use this company in the future. There are plenty of moving companies in the Birmingham area to choose from. As such, this sneaky practice of applying hidden fees has not seperated New Latitude from the competition in a positive way. I don't expect that the company will attempt to remedy this either.
RESPONSE FROM New Latitude Movers:
A phone call was made to this customer after reading their review to discuss their poor experience. We are fully prepared to make this right with this customer. Drive time is a common charge in our industry and with fuel prices as high as they are, a fuel charge is also common. There was no intention to hide any of these charges from the customer. If this customer feels that we mislead them then we are more than willing to refund them for that. We have been operating this way since 1997. This was not a response to making up for Groupon. We appreciate this customers business and really hate that felt surprised on a stressful moving day. We hope to hear back from them to discuss the situation.
