Great atmosphere upon entering. The Bar is set up great and the horseshoe layout makes conversation and restaurant visibility easy. The Tavern has a soft decor that is welcoming to all.
Someone cheerful is always there to greet you! The owner is a really nice guy who will come out and make sure you're meal and experience is great or he'll do something to fix it.
The drinks are great. Cocktails are made to order and there is a nice selection of draft beers. Aside from the drafts, there is a long list of bottles w/ domestics and imports to enjoy.
The menu is not complicated and all the choices are easy to see- the hard part is choosing which to order. I especially enjoy that there are specials that are frequently changed and priced right. All the prices are reasonable to cheap and the servings won't let you leave hungry.
The stuffies are delicious and while some have said there is too much stuffing- Duh- its a "stuffie." I've never had any app like it and love the bits of clams and sausage (is that the secret) that make it an excellent start to the meal.
I've had many items on the menu but my go to is always the Pulled Pork. Seasoned just right and cooked for what must be hours, this tender meat is a crowd pleaser. The barbeque sauce to go with it is really some of my favorite and I always order extra to smother the meat- not as a cover up but because its that good. The pulled pork can even be put on top of the burgers! No other place does that
About the burgers.... MMM. When that burger craving hits, the Tavern will come through big time. Thick and Juicy is the best way to describe the burger. What you put on it is up to you but you can't go wrong with cheese and the fixings. The Tavern Burger is really good too with ham and onions on top. I Love it.
The chicken wings are big and the sauces are great too.
The pizza is worth making a trip for. The sauce and doe are so delicious I must say it is some of my favorite pizza bar none.
I've had a few of the pasta dishes and the seafood will not disappoint- nor with the veggie dish either.
The mash potatoes are so good but not too creamy as I have found elsewhere. The french fries are quality as well- never under or over cooked.
All around I have to give the Tavern a 5 because their attention to detail in ensuring you have a great experience and yummy meal to bring you back are what makes this place different! Whenever I am in town I make a stop there.
*I've heard great things about the Tavern on game days since it is so close to Gillette Stadium.
