Brought my child for psoriasis on his scalp and torso. Receptionist was rude and unprofessional. Due to work, I had my mother bring him in for me and I met her there. She had been trying to fill out his patient info sheets. I had faxed these sheets over two weeks previously. I told the receptionist who snapped, ""She didn't tell me that."" Then she had to dig through this huge thick file of faxed papers til she found my son's I'm sorry, but shouldn't this have been put into his file by now?. I don't expect the receptionist to understand about how hard it was to get out of work for this appointment, or how my mother had to give up her own appointment to bring my son and meet me there - I just expect her to be courteous, and to have the faxed paperwork in his file before now (again, I had faxed it over 2 weeks prior!). The medical assistant called us into the exam room and she was thorough, professional and polite. (+)\r

When Dr. Chartier came in she was domineering, borderline rude, and very stern toward my child. She never once called him by his name, asked if we had any questions, or even named his problem as ""psoriasis."" She peeked down his shirt, not examining any of his body. (-)\r
\r
She did examine his scalp. (+) \r
\r
When I told her he was at a stage of not wanting to take showers every day, she practically reeled on him: ""Do you WANT to get rid of this? Do you WANT to have it forever? Because if you DON'T shower EVERY DAY, you WILL."" ( - )\r
\r
She explained the treatment course, and how/why it would work, very well. (+)\r
\r
I asked her about potential diet relations to psoriasis which she informed me were garbage. I explained my son has a few sensory issues, and has a very hard time accepting any other than a few foods, most of which are not very healthy. She then ""reeled"" on me: ""Well DO YOU BUY THEM?"" Then she very sternly told my son, ""You are very heavy. You are heavier than you should be BY FAR. Children who are OBESE and remain OBESE into their teens, will grow up OBESE and remain OBESE for the rest of their lives. Is this what you want? Do you want to be OBESE forever?"" ( -)\r
\r
My son left with tears in his eyes. I am not saying that anything she said wasn't true, but could she have been any less sensitive? Especially to a pre-pubescent sixth grader with weight and skin issues!?? ( - )\r
\r
Incredibly she ended the appointment with, ""It was really nice to meet you!"" and absolutely never even noticed my son was red-eyed and trembling with humiliation.\r
\r
The final insult was when Dr Chartier handed me my son's paperwork for checkout. Posted on it was a heavily scrawled note from the receptionist, ""TOOK A LONG TIME WITH THEIR PAPERWORK!"" \r
\r
The check-out clerk was pleasant enough but extremely harried, rushed, and worried-looking.\r
\r
All in all a very disappointing experience and I will not be taking my child back to this clinic which was crawling with bad vibes, discontent and rude staff. \r
\r
Props to the wonderful medical assistant who is obviously too new and too young to have been jaded by this atmosphere yet. \r
