I believe this tax company has acted unethically. The owner, Kathy Mannola did our taxes last year and financial planning. We own a gay wedding company and are a gay couple. Kathy knew this obviously, but she did not tell us she was leading the fight on Maui to prevent gays and lesbians from having equal rights. We learned of her stance from her own words printed in the Maui News. ... According to the paper she believes that the ultimate decision ""should be put to a vote of the people,"" and that the ballot language should be ""clear and simple."" Mannola said she also lobbied in favor of a veto of the civil unions bill. ""I was very pleased with the way the governor handled the decision,"" she said regarding the governors veto. ""I believe she has a great sense of personal satisfaction and really and truly feels good about it."" Kathy should have told us she believes we are not equal and don't deserve equal rights. She should have told us she was homophobic and wants us to remain second class citizens. We were also in the Maui News having been interviewed about our struggle for equal rights here on Maui. We trusted her. We now wonder if our taxes were even done right. She should have turned us down as clients explaining her views and her public stance on the issue that she knew we were advocating. I am so disgusted with VIP tax service on Maui. I hope anyone who believes in ethical behavior and/or believes gays should have equal rights should let VIP Tax Service know their opinion. Thank you.
