When my wife started working out here, she would describe to me the (at the time) terrifying workouts she had just completed, all with a big smile on her face. I was convinced that I would hate it, but two months after she started she dragged me to a free intro class. Ten months and fifteen pounds of lean mass later, I'm hooked. It's not just the workouts and great coaching, it's the community. I find myself lingering after workouts, just chatting with folks and cheering on the next class. We spend a lot of time together both in and out of the gym just hanging out.
On to some more nuts and bolts stuff:
- It's geeky here. Software engineers, lawyers, scientists, students, teachers - there's a 20% discount for geeks.
- Lots of classes. 6:30AM, noon, 5, 6, 7 PM, and more coming as the gym moves to a larger, swankier spot.
- 8-hour ""Firestarter"" intro course required. Puts a big emphasis on safe movement.
- Typical class is warmup, strength (either lifting or gymnastics), then Crossfit-style metcon (5-20 min of intense activity). Roughly 1 hour total.
- Nobody's gonna push any kind of diet on you. Whew.
