I went to look at a car, and asked the dealer if I could take the car to my mechanic. He said, ""No. Technically, my insurance does not even allow me to drive the car off the lot, although I will let you do that."" Even after explaining to him that I had insurance to cover taking the car to my mechanic, the dealer insisted that, ""If you got into an accident during the drive, you could sue me, so that still makes it a liability for me. I will only let you take the car to a mechanic within a few miles of my business.""
