I arrived early for my massage in West Bloomfield. No one was there to greet me, but two other customers were seated in the small waiting area. Finally someone came down the stairs and asked me to have a seat. It was more like a stool or crate, and it was awkward with seating so close to the other women who were talking, I had no place to divert my eyes without looking like I was staring. Finally someone came and moved me into the 'pedicure' area for a soak. People seemed confused as they came back and forth, to offer me magazines, tea and apologize for the wait.
Initially they said 10-15 minute wait. I read a magazine, she drained the water out of my sink. My feet were cold and wet, no towel, no further contact. After 40 minutes, I asked if someone was coming for me. They moved me into another small room for a minute then took me upstairs.
The massage was wonderful, but I think she shortchanged me 10 minutes. I had asked for an eyebrow wax, which they offered to do without charge. They also then added in a mini-facial, which was quite lovely.
They apologized repeatedly for the delay (45 minutes!) and I did certainly appreciate the efforts to comp some extra services. They just seemed disorganized and short staffed, as the massage therapist was the one running around seating people and moving them through.
The place was small and not my taste in decor for a spa. But it was clean (no toilet paper and a shared hand towel in the restroom!) and relaxing. The services provided were good though and they did a nice job at recovering from the confusion and delay.
