I had been meaning to check out Sankofa's massages since the business moved to Salem and finally had my chance during their Promo Event. I try to sneak in a massage a few times a year (as a dancer and motorcyclist, my back and other muscles are often in need of some serious TLC) and am therefore fairly familiar with different styles and techniques. During my first visit to Sankofa, I decided I'm not likely to go anywhere else!
Tye (the owner) is nothing short of fantastic. She spends time with you before you begin to find out your pressure preference, areas you would like her to work on, previous massage history, etc. I'm a huge fan of deep tissue massage and was thrilled to discover this is her area of expertise, but she is also equally skilled with softer techniques. The few requests I had were responded to immediately. During our post-massage discussion, we were able to pin-point exactly how my motorcycle riding was impacting my body, which is something I'll definitely be looking out for from now on. I can't wait for my next visit and would highly encourage anyone looking for a fabulous experience to check out Sankofa.
