As a patient this past week at the Auburn facility for surgery, Total shoulder replacement. I woke to an iv line leaking blood .when i finally got the attention of the nurse she reattached it and walked away.I was transported to the 4th floor into a shared room and offered the wrong medication.asked them to check with my Dr. As i lay there waiting I noticed my right hand and forearm were covered in semi dried blood..45mins later when the nurse came back and tried to attach a device to my iv and I questioned her she got angry and said i refused pain meds, heres the kicker this nurse wouldnt even clean the blood up for me. now listen 6 years ago I was diagnosed with Hepatitus C. the blood I am refering to is infected and dangerous. after warning my family taking pictures and complaing as strongly as I could she walked in and with out gloves proceded to wipe this dried blood from my arm and the drain deviceinstalled to drain my shoulder NO GLOVES PEOPLE how many might she have infected. how do we warn everyone on the surgical floor that she exposed. THIS HOSPITAL IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHENEVER POSSIBLE. I was treated as though I was a problem for having to point out the mistakes 3 times with medication. A nurses responce to me after telling me the` combination of drugs she wanted to administer would seriously depress my ability to breathe.I expressed my concern as I have lung issues`anyway. she said I'll check on ya every hour or so. I said and what if I stop in between and this proffesional nurse looked me in the eye and said YOU WILL DIE and walked out. i obviously refused the meds.
Pros: nothing about the surgical floor is acceptable
Cons: everything about the nursing staff was deplorable
