It's a Scam!!! 11/20/2010

They were advertising a car I wanted at a good price so I called and made an appointment to check it out. I saw this disclaimer on the eBay advertisement that the price on the eBay listing reflects a $1500 down payment plus a $1500 payment from the dealership (""doubling your down payment""). I figured that was fine since I would be paying cash anyway, so I would just get the car for the listed price. So I drove an hour and a half to this place, test drive the car, and then the first thing the dealer says to me is essentially: ""You know this isn't really the price of the car, right?"" So then they explained to me how this deal where they double your down payment works - you pay the down payment of $1500, and then on top of that you pay the listed price of the car. Of course this makes no sense at all to anyone who understands basic math. Here is how selling things is supposed to work. It's simple: Price of item = amount customer pays This is not the case at this dealership. They wanted me to pay $1500 and then pay the price they were advertising. My best guess is that this is a scam targeting the 99% of people that pay for their cars with loans/financing. You pay your $1500 down payment, they tell you what your monthly payments will be and the customer who they're hoping isn't paying attention is left with a loan equal to the full advertised price of the car. I would give them two stars for being really nice people, but that's just how con artists have to be to take advantage of people. So don't be fooled by their polite behavior - they're not on your side. As soon as I smelled the scam I walked out. I hope you do too. I would hate to see crooks like these getting anyone's business. Love and Peace, Jeff more
