I've never written a negative review before and I told myself to wait a week before writing a negative review for this stylist thinking maybe the bad haircut would improve with time. Well, I've waited over a month and I still can't believe (and even sympathetic friends and relatives agree) how terrible my hair looks. I made an appointment with Kathy based on the reviews I read here that stated she ""understood"" how to cut curly hair. Oh how wrong (or fake!) they were! I wanted a few inches taken off my long spiral hair, with a few long layers in the back with some short spirals around my face. I don't think she listened to me at all. Instead, Kathy turned my long spiral curls into a short layered, frizzy, razor cut mess. I've come to terms with the fact that it will take years to get my hair long enough to cut off the fraying, razor cut layers. I've since read many articles by real curly hair stylists and confirmed with curly haired friends that razor cuts are the WORST for curly hair. (I never had a stylist ever suggest using a razor on my hair so I didn't even know what the razor was.) And lots of short layers in the curliest part of your hair = a poodle poof look. (Don't even non-stylists know this?)
I feel bad saying all this, and Kathy may indeed do a good job on some types of hair, but I feel compelled to help curly girls avoid my mistake.
