Witness to bad ethics 8/24/2009

Im over at a friends house watching a movie when I hear a man outside exclaim in a near desperate manner ""get off my car man! Dude, get off my car!""\r My friends and myself rush to the windows wondering what might be happening. \r I witnessed this guy hugging the tire of his car telling the tow truck driver to get away from his car.\r In the process of about 30 minutes I witnessed the two drivers swear at this man, shove him, and nearly assault him with equipment. We also heard the tow truck driver tell the man that he either has to pay 50 dollars to recieve his car now, or they will tow it and it would cost him $200. \r After that event we grabbed our camera and announced that we were video taping the event.\r Moments later the two guys who were trying to get the drivers to stop finally announced he had less than 50 dollars and asked if that would be enough. One of the drivers seemed frustrated enough to tell the guy that we were video taping and he cant accept the money\r due to that.\r \r To my knowledge Hawaii statute 290-11(b)(1) states that if you catch the tow truck driver before he actually tows the car away and tell him to unhook it all, Legally that driver/operator is supposed to RELEASE the vehicle at NO CHARGE.\r \r They travel around this residential neighborhood hunting for vehicles that may be in violation and extort people who are ill-informed about the laws concerning the matter.\r \r Im enraged that the employees of this company would so easily disregard these statutes and laws as if it were a common business practice.\r \r I seriously hope that they stop these actions and practices and actually tow cars that are called upon rather than seeking them out. Pros: They didnt Take the car Cons: Only after extorting 50 bucks from the guy more
