I am a member at GISFW in Arlington. I spent nearly $3000 for a one-year membership. Why so expensive? Because the franchise promises nutritional support and personal training, neither of which I have received. The nutritional support consists of a one-page, high protein, unbalanced, unhealthy diet, that no one explains to you, because they don't know how. The personal training consists of two young kids who give very little, if any, guidance or feedback during workouts. They seem to prefer to chat with members about their personal lives and look at themselves in the mirror. Despite the fact that they work with me 3 times a week, neither of them ever remember that I have some very serious exercise restrictions. The owner, who is not a trainer, is rarely there. When he is, he walks around interfering with everyone's workout, about which he knows nothing.
So the good news is, I go and workout. The bad news is could have purchased a $200 eliptical trainer and gotten a better value. And I wouldn't feel like an idiot for wasting $3000. My strong advice is: if you want a personal trainer, pay for a real one. Don't join this joke of a facility.
Pros: I spent so much money I actually go
Cons: The value I receive for what I spent is very little
