Talk about La Cr?me de la Cr?me of cheap places. I am having the worst experience EVER with this place. Not only their facilities are poorly kept, their staff are beyond rude, their trainers are overweight and out of shape, with the exception of 3 and unhelpful and the place just smells really bad. Yes, it is a gym and people sweat, but Bally's and 24 Hour Fitness never smelt this bad.
I signed up with them *really stupid decision of mine* and granted, the staff was most wonderful and helpful that day; I wasn't thrilled AT ALL with their equipment and the manner in which the place was kept, but I bought into how nice the staff seemed to be. Of course they were nice; that's how they get people to sign up.
My very 1st. day was awful. Many of the cardio machines were broken and the ones available had people in line waiting for their turn. Upon approaching one of their staff members for assistance he completely made me feel unwelcome. He was more preoccupied with the young girl stretching out in the hallway then with assisting members.
My company transferred me to Southern California in May. Obviously, there was no need to continue my membership with them. I called and the person who answered explained to me that I needed to speak to their manager and I informed her that I was out of the area. Upon coming back to Nor Cal, I spoke with their manager; he informed me that he couldn't do anything and gave me the (248) 737-7200 number to call. I called them and I spoke to a representative and requested for my membership to be cancel. She told me that it was required to give a 30 day notice before canceling, but advised me that she would make a note in the system that I had called that day to cancel the membership to avoid being charged for the following month, but I still needed to submit a written request form. So, I drove back to the gym, got the Cancellation Request Forms and submitted it that day.
Today makes exactly 30 days since that happened and what do you know? I check my bank and Fitness USA is taking out funds from my checking account even though I gave these guys heads up and plenty of time to process this. Two weeks ago, I even got a letter from them offering me to considered their hold program and pay only $5 dollars per month to freeze my account. Anyway, I was upset and called the 248 number and spoke to a very rude, customer service lady and first she told me that they were charging me because last month wasn't paid to which answered that it wasn't true because I was looking at the bank statement and the funds were removed. Then she changed it up and said, that I needed to give them 30 day notice to which I answered that I had and had spoken to a representative prior to me canceling a month ago. She went on to say that there was no record of such call nor any notes in the system. She went on and said that they received my cancellation forms on the 15th of June and that I was still responsible for payment, regardless of what I had heard from the last representative; and mind you, I called them on the 8th. of June and on that day the representative I spoke to promised me to make a note in the system. I told her they weren't being fair nor understanding of the situation and she went on and said that it wasn't her problem and I responded that she was being a little rude and she said, "" Well, if you don't like it just hang up."" WHAT? O_O I tried to reason with her, but she was completely unhelpful, extremely rude and misunderstanding.
All in all, I can say DO NOT sign up or even consider stopping by these gyms to take a look. What they have to offer in terms of customer service, equipment, fitness programs, out of shape staff and trainers, etc is so not worth the money you pay them a month. You can get so much more in other gyms for the same amount of money. Fitness USA is not the gym to work out if you are in the market for a good gym. I would never, ever recommend this gym to anyone. PERIOD!
Pros: Me not attending!
Cons: Cheap place, cheap staff, cheap equipment!!!!!!
