My husband and I used Van Zandt for our tax preparation for several years. They ""forgot"" to e-file our state taxes one year, but did pay the penalty when we requested them to. When we were audited by the IRS and NYS, however, their incompetence became apparent. It was very difficult to speak to anyone about our audit and when we did (after weeks of calling and leaving messages), we were told they were working on it and that the IRS was backed up. In the end, we ended up having to pay for their errors (in the thousands) and were told by other accountants who we had review their tax filings that they were the worst they have ever seen. Needless to say, we will not be using them again.
