Hard to find but worth the effort 11/8/2009

Walking down the stairs off of main st, it felt like we were entering a 1930's speak easy. The dining room with fireplace was beautiful and the adjacent bar room was cozy and warm. We started off with a very generous martini ($8) and a glass of surprisingly good house cabernet ($6). Moving to the diningroom, we were at one of only about 10 tables. We ordered a steak flat bread appetizer ($9) which was slightly over done but excellent. For entrees we had the seafood and butternut risotto which was loaded with fresh scallops, shrimp and haddock and tender chucks of butternut touched with a bit of maple, and the surf and turf of the night which was a flatiron steak cooked perfectly med rare along with 5 jumbo shrimp. Dessert was a homemade apple tart which took a little while but was well worth the wait. Service was great, the place was clean and the value was there. We will be back. Pros: really good reasonibly priced food - friendly service Cons: hard to find more
