I am unaware of how many public defenders we have in Forrest County jail, but inmates are overcrowded and the system is not getting these people out of jail fast enough. Some are guilty and belong in prison, but some have been falsely accused, and many need mental or heath attention. Maybe the PD office should consider hiring some volunteers or part-time employees to speed up the time these inmates spend in our county jail.
