How Chase profits from the recession! 11/17/2009

?We had our account with WAMU for close to 6 years and rarely did we run into trouble. We maintained our account and if ever an overdraft came through, we would simply call and the charges would most likely be reversed. When I heard about the merge with CHASE, I was horrified because of their reputation and my past experience with them. I used to work for a debt settlement attorney and I can't even begin to tell you how ruthless their business practices are. Unlike WAMU, Chase doesn't really care about people and isn't willing to work with you even if you've been laid off or admit that you're facing extreme financial hardships. They don't care about how the recession affects you as long as they can make their money on all those extra charges. A supervisor at the Bixby Knolls Branch told me that you're only allowed 1 mistake per year!! Then, they charge you $33.00 for every transaction that comes through over your limit no matter what. Your only other option is to open up a line of credit or savings and enroll in their overdraft protection program, which only charges $10.00 per transfer or overdraft if you have the money. My husband and I have experienced serious financial hardships this year and took full responsibility for our mistake. I posed the question,"" We take responsibility for our oversight, but in an effort to keep our business, how can we work together on this?"" There was no grace, no mercy, and no empathy, just a robotic lecture on how you can only have 1 fee returned and that's it. He didn't fight for our business the way WAMU did. I was willing to stay if they were wiling to give us a break. It's really too bad that they don't care about people or your circumstances. DO NOT BANK WITH CHASE. You're better of at F&M or a Credit Union. Anything is better than being treated like your just another number and not a human being.? Pros: None since WAMU merged with JP Morgan Chase Cons: You're just another number. more
