I had not been to Angell Memorial before last Sunday. When I knew it was time for my 14 year old cat, Jake, to cross over, I didn't know where to turn. I tried contacting veterinarians who do house calls to see if Jake couldn't be put to rest here in his home, but no one was available on that Sunday. I was referred to Angell Memorial. I called for information regarding euthanasia, and the person with whom I spoke was gentle and compassionate. I brought Jake to Angell Memorial and the people at the front desk were kind and sympathetic. I was told that a pet who needed to be put down would not have to wait long to be seen by the veterinarian. Jake and I were shown to an examining room to give us privacy and very shortly thereafter a young female veterinarian, Dr. Davis, came in. She explained the procedure and asked whether I wanted to be with Jake when he died; I couldn't decide. She kindly told me I could take all the time I needed to make the final decision.
