Melody is a wonderful piano teacher. I came to her as a self taught intermediate level player and she has definitely taken my playing to the next level. Her knowledge of music, piano technique, and teaching skills is vast and used at each lesson. Her background in music performance at the undergraduate as well as the graduate level provides for an almost boundless well of technical and musical knowledge to draw on and use to help the student overcome virtually any block. A very large library of music allows her to compliment explanations with examples as well as suggest appropriate pieces. She keeps up to date with current music ""trends"" and is very willing to teach music the that interests the student. \r

Melody is always pleasant at lessons which start and end right on time. When I see her interact with other students (of all ages) she is always interested in their whole lives, not just their music. She also encourages bringing music into other parts of her students' lives by suggesting local cultural events, CDs and other recordings, movies about music, etc... \r

Her living room ""studio"" had not only a grand piano but also a full size digital piano, allowing students to play/learn on whichever is more comfortable for them. \r

In short she is an excellent teacher who I would recommend for any level of student, from beginner to one preparing for performances and entrance ""exams"" to musical programs.
Pros: Extensive musical background and lots of teaching experience
