We relocated to Springfield last year and purchased a home from Smart Choice Properties. Before we purchased the property, we walked through it numerous times and took notes, measured, etc. The kitchen was recently re-done and all appliances were present except for the refrigerator. We measured for a new fridge and discussed purchasing the home. Our REALTOR negotiated a fair price for the home and it was agreed upon by everyone involved. To our suprise, one day before closing, our REALTOR walked through the property to make sure everything was OK and he noticed the stove had been removed from the kitchen. In discussing it with Smart Choice Properties, they decided since they had to sell the property for less than they had expected, they were going to take the stove. There was NEVER any mention of the stove not staying at anytime during our negotiations. Smart Choice Properties took it upon themselves to steal the stove from the kitchen out of spite for the housing market not ""bearing the fruit"" they had anticipated. We fought with them for days and if we would have had a choice we would have moved on to another home. Unfortunately, our furniture was on its way, our jobs started within two days in Springfield and we did not have another home lined up as a back-up. We never anticipated Smart Choice Properties would take the stove out of the property over a few hundred dollars. What kind of business ethic does that show? We had to go out and purchase a new stove ourselves. An additional expense we definately had not planned on. We would never reccommend anyone ever do business with this company as there are plenty of sellers who are anxiously willing to sell their homes and making sure everything that is supposed to stay in the home actually does.
Pros: Very nice during the initial negotiations
Cons: Exteremely deceptive and dishonest
