Normally I would let a club that annoyed me like this just let it slide but after reading these rave reviews about this place and then dragging my friends to go to this place after pestering them during the week I had to dispel the myths. First off this is NOT a club (notice how not one person points this out) it's a basement LOUNGE at a hotel with a DJ. Whenever you get into a basement place then a whole host of problems ensues just by nature. It has no ventilation, it's ridiculously dark, there are pipes running above your head and it feels like a cave. It will also take you five seconds to walk from one end to the other. I am not kidding. I couldn't get over how small the place was. Which I could excuse if it was an illegal speakeasy or a club in Ohio but we are living in one of the most glamourous cities in the world and it annoys me to attend a place that isn't bigger than my living room.
If the place is that small its all fine and good by me but dont' try and make it into something that its not which is a club. It is too dark and loud to be successful as a "lounge". I guess I could would be fine if the music was really popping but it was nothing but spanish music on a friday night. Again I would not have cared had the reviewers here didn't talk about famous DJs who came.
Yes there is no cover charge and the drinks are reasonably priced but I truly couldn't stand to be there for more than a couple of hours (I'm surprised I lasted that long). I mean the place is fine for what it is which is a local hole in the wall that is a good alternative when you have no money, want somewhere to hang with your friends and don't want to get really dressed up (which I was and felt weird). But do not mistake this place on any level as a substitute for a manhattan club or lounge because it could never hope to measure up.
Pros: cheap, local
Cons: small, too dark, basement, too loud, cheesy atmosphere
