Best sushi in Triangle - I kid you not 8/27/2008

For some reason there are 2 entries on Citysearch for this restaurant. See also the ""Akashi Japanese Restaurant"" which has an editorial review and lots of user reviews.\r \r So I'll keep it brief here - I've eaten sushi all over Asia, big cities in this country etc. This place surprisingly rivals some of the best ones I've ever been to. Don't get me wrong, of course Akashi doesn't have the super high-end ingredients and class of a place like Osho in the Bay Area, but then again, you're not paying a fortune either. The half off sushi really is half off, no silly ""equal or lesser value"" gimmicks. The chef is the guy who made nearby Shiki Sushi famous, this is his new place and if you dare to compare, you'll see why people are raving. Talk to him a little and you'll see just how dedicated he is to his craft.\r \r The only cons are just the fact that it's in a pretty run down strip mall, and the decor is fairly plain. (They've spruced it up a lot recently, so the bright cafeteria lights and cheap chairs etc. are thankfully gone.) I come here for the excellent food, friendly service, and convenient 54/55 location. If you want fancy atmosphere, go to Shiki. If you want the best sushi in the Triangle at unbelievably cheap prices, you owe it to yourself to try Akashi. Pros: Outstanding food, service, and amazingly cheap price Cons: Below average strip mall location, so-so decor more
