Bad Baek il Cake 7/5/2008

My family and I had our daughters first and only Baek-il celebration in Mpls. There isnt a wide selection to choose from in Mpls as we live in LA, but Kim's offers a side business making traditional rice cake for special Korean celebrations. Typically, for a Baek-il cake it should have the baby's name atop and ours didnt. We called and asked why our baby's name wasnt on the cake and they just simply said, ""Go to Target, buy some frosting and apply the name on yourself"". Isnt that why we paid them? On top of that the cake was tough - like it was made two days before and left out. I would have felt better buying a cake from Los Angeles and flying to MN. Fortunately for them, theyre the only ones that offer such service. Unfortunately for others, you take what you can get. Also, double check expiration dates at the store. They sell expired food. We'll stick to LA Korean grocerie stores from now on! Pros: Theyre one of the few Korean markets in MN Cons: They sell expired food and poor customer service more
