Great Labor Day Cruise 7/17/2008

If you wanted to spend your day viewing classic cars and hot rods, this was a don't miss happening. Over the past few years, this happening has been degraded to a golf cart cruise. The OCCA allows participants who are camping during the 3 day event the use of golf carts as transportation within the fairgrounds however they do not restrict them from cruisin along with the cars that pay a high entry to the show. There are many vendors and food concessions that charge amusement park food prices while the food is mediocre at best. There is a live band that is scheduled to play two nights during the three day event. These live bands do not perform till after 7 pm when most spectators have already gone home. The day is filled with sounds of the oldies but goodies compliments of a hired DJ. The OCCA has a lot to learn from other large cruises like the Cruisin for a Cure event which is a one day event with live music playing throughout the day and the food is a whole lot better and at a reasonable charge! You won't see golf carts at this charity event! I have been a participant of the Labor Day cruise for the last 18 years as well as my many friends. What was once a "be there or be square" event has evolved into an over priced, chaotic event. Pros: Great cars. Cons: Particpant entry fee & packets, parking, goodie bag, fairgound entry, communication more
