Last year I found that riding bike was so painful on my back that it wasn?t much fun. I didn?t have much of a problem on short rides, but once I went beyond 20 miles, my back was killing me. After I completed the MS 150 I knew something had to be done. I went to KGS bikes to have a fitting to see what could be done to adjust my bike so that it fit. Kevin Saunders spent a lot of time adjusting the saddle, saddle height, reach distance, etc. but it turned out that bike frame was too small. I verified this with three other reputable shops.\r
The process started with a laser fitting during which the fit of the bike was determined by both my comfort and the power I could produce in each position. This process is VERY different than what the other local shops that offer GURU bikes do. They measure your body, but they don?t really get a sense of your position on the bike, and how your position actually affects your power. These types of things are not possible to determine by just measuring body parts and a few small measurements on a bike. That is what I learned in my previous bike buying adventure?If you?re buying a high end bike, it doesn?t make sense to use low end bike fit techniques. You get what you pay for.\r
After the bike fitting, the dimensions were sent to GURU and they made my bike based on those dimensions. Once I received my bike Kevin made sure everything was just perfect...and he continues to provide outstanding service. You might have guessed that this process does not offer instant gratification?it took a while from the time I ordered my bike to when I was able to take it home, but it was DEFINITELY worth the wait, and I got what I paid for-a FABULOUS bike with SUPPORT that will last a lifetime. AND a friend/ colleague I can trust.
Pros: Excellent fitting of bike, excellent product, excellent service
Cons: The bike was so hot I could hardly wait for it!!
