A group of us, 4 to be exact went there last night for dinner. This is the first time for us to visit this place and we were quite excited given the good reviews that we've read. Upon entering, we were impressed with the simple but tasteful set-up of the place. It really evoked an old pub feeling. The food was in itself disappointing. We ordered the scampi (shrimps were overcooked) and the sauce was limp, to say the least (it tasted vinegary and lacked that garlic ooomph). The onion rings were greasy. They had oysters and these could have been clams, due to their dimunitive size. My friends ordered the gumbo and they liked it, though quite spicy for their taste. Two of us ordered the sheperd's pie - I actually liked it after sprinkling a little bit of salt. When mixed with the mashed potato, it came out good. \r
Service was a disappointment. My friend who ordered the gumbo had to wait and wait and wait for his soup spoon before he can eat. I requested for an extra plate of bread - I had to remind Chris, our foodserver again about it as I was about to finish my pie. We even had to request for a refill of our drink. The bread was good, though, crispy on the outside and soft inside. There were 3 wait staffs going around (and the place was not that big) yet service was really terrible. \r
A table next to us ordered mussels (we didn't even see that on the menu nor was this mentioned to us) - we would have ordered them. \r
If you want a good drink, this is a place to go. Their list of beers was a mile long. Sadly, the food choices are limited. Given the way the food was prepared, it may as well be that way....
