We'd been trying to get to Killen's after reading about it in the Chronicle. We started with shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were very clean and fresh tasting. The creamed corn was okay, a little sweet with a little kick. The asparagus was a tad bitter. The bacon-wrapped filet was very tender with a heavily smoked flavor. The Kobe filet was not cooked properly. The outside was a perfect medium-rare while the inside was rare with the consistency of Jello. The grilled shrimp were simply grilled shrimp with no frills. Now the desserts were pretty good. The bread pudding was made with croissants. The carrot cake is served hot. Both desserts are enough for at least two people.\r

The parking lot is dreadful. The building doesn't look like a building you'd go to for an $85 steak. The decor is simple. The noise level at an 8:00 dinner was quite high.\r

The service was good. The waitstaff seemed to be well informed of the menu items and technique.\r

From all the reviews and published articles I'd come across, I was underwhelmed with my visit. For the price, I expected a spectacular meal in a fine dining atmosphere. I do not see another trip to Killen's in my future.
Pros: desserts, good service
Cons: dinner, price, parking, location
