My friends and I were semi-regulars at Horus before it was ""discovered."" Since then we've experienced a noticeable decline every time we go there. First the music became too loud--it's a small place where the loud music encourages loud conversation, which spirals out of control and makes any kind of communication a daunting prospect. If you like just looking at your companions, this won't be a problem. Second, we've noticed the service decline, as the servers are no longer as attentive as they used to be and some of them even have an off-putting attitude. What REALLY destroyed any kind of loyalty we used to have to the place happened this past weekend. We stopped in for a round of drinks and a hookah, two friends and I. We racked up a $40 bill in half an hour and weren't planning to stay long, so when the waiter came by to see if we wanted another round we just asked for the check. My friend got up to go to the restroom before we left, during which time an employee came up and told us we had to leave. To assuage any fears he might've had that we were campers, we let him know we were on our way out and that our friend was using the bathroom. He responds, ""No, I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave. We have a reservation."" When our friend got back we wanted just a few more rounds on the hookah (having been seated <40 minutes earlier) when he came up again and told us we had to go. I find it appalling that a business finds it acceptable to force out long-standing, paying customers in such a rude and disrespectful manner. We will NOT be going back again.
Pros: One of a few hookah bars in the city
Cons: LOUD, rude employees, poor service
